A high level meeting of Finance and Development Ministers from developed and developing countries held at the Bali UNFCCC COP in December 2007 reinforced the point that climate change is an economic, development and investment challenge, not just an environment issue. The "Bali Breakfast" is an initiative launched by World Bank president Robert Zoellick for Finance and Development Ministers to meet twice a year, on the occasion of the World Bank and IMF Annual and Spring Meetings, to continue their discussions on climate change.
Most recently, Mr. Zoellick discussed the issue of "How Will the World Finance Climate Change Action? [1]" at the Spring Meeting on April 26, 2009 in Washington, DC. (PDF, 1.4M)
Mr. Zoellick delivered this presentation, "Climate Adaptation and Development [2]," at the first Breakfast, held on Sunday, April 13, 2008. (PDF, 2M)
A second presentation, "Carbon Markets for Development [3]," focusing on carbon finance was delivered at the annual meeting on October 12, 2008. (PDF, 638K)
The next meeting will be held October 6-7, 2009.
